The Littlest Christmas Star. Brandi Dougherty. Illustrated by Sanja Rescek. 2010. Scholastic. 32 pages.
One snow afternoon, Max's teacher announced his class would put on a Christmas play. Everyone was excited--especially Max. Max couldn't wait to have a part. Even though he was the littlest student in his class, Max hoped he could be the star of the show.
Max is the star of the show. But not the kind of star he wanted to be. He is the star of Bethlehem. Max thinks his role is too little. Why couldn't he have a bigger role? A role with more than two words? Surely Max knows better than the teacher! Maybe he can find a way to "help" the others out. Will Max's "contribution" be big enough? Will he get the attention he so desperately seeks?
Read and see for yourself in The Littlest Christmas Star.
The Littlest Christmas Star is simple and cute. It may not be the best Christmas book ever written, but it is enjoyable in its own sweet-and-simple way.
